COMPTROLLER'S OFFICE,
TREASURY DEPARTMENT,

To Ms Excellency,
Elihu E. Jackson, Governor of Maryland:
In compliance with the Law of the State, I respects
fully transmit to your Excellency a detailed account of
the operations of the Treasury Department for the fiscal
year ended 30th September, 1888.

RECEIPTS.

The total revenue received into the Treasury during
the fiscal year was $1,860,106.50, and the balance
Treasury 30th September, 1887, was $682,023.20;
the total amount in the Treasury during the fiscal year
$2,542,129.70.

The amount of receipts in the Treasury for 1888 is
considerably less than that of the year 1887, the
ence being mainly occasioned by the apparent
of receipts in 1887 under the operation of the Refund
ing Act of 1886, and the reduction of the State Levy in
1888. The receipts in detail are given in "Statement
A," appended to this Report.
DISBURSEMENTS.

The total disbursements during the fiscal year 1888
were $2,010,060.24, being less than the disbursements of
