OF THE
STATE OF MARYLAND.
COMPTROLLER'S OFFICE,
TREASURY DEPARTMENT,
Annapolis, Md., Jan 5th, 1886.
To the Honorable the General Assembly of Maryland:
I respectfully submit my Report of the financial con-
dition of the State, giving in detail the operations of the
Treasury Department for the fiscal year ending on the

RECEIPTS.

during the fiscal year amounted to $2,112,405.01, and the
balance in the Treasury September 30th, 884, was
$837,088.39, making the total amount in the Treasury
during the fiscal year to be the sum of $2,949,494.00.
It is gratifying to note that notwithstanding business
has been during the past year generally dull, the receipts
into the Treasury have kept up, showing an increase of
$79,325.68 when compared with the receipts of the year
ending 30th September, 1884, and an increase of $135.-
653.10 when compared with the average receipts of the
live years immediately preceding the last-mentioned
year , and if you deduct from the receipts of those five
years items which arc no longer sources of revenue to
the State, we have an increase of $23(3,211.70 in favor of
the year just closed.
