REPORT.

TREASURY DEPARTMENT,

COMPTROLLER'S OFFICE, ANNAPOLIS,

January 3rd, 1855.

To the Governor of Maryland:

The Comptroller, in compliance with the requirements of section one of
chapter fifty-six of the Acts of Assembly of 1852, respectfully submits the
following report:

THE OPERATIONS OF THE TREASURY FOR THE FISCAL

YEAR.

Statement No. 1, appended to this Report, will show the aggregate
receipts into the Treasury for the fiscal year, ended 30th of September
1854, to have been $1,208,347.39, which, added to $345,357.80, (the
balance in the Treasury as of the 30th September 1853,) will make the
total sum in the Treasury during the fiscal year $1,553,705.19.

Statement JVb. 2, will give the Public Expenditures during the fiscal
year, ended 30th September 1854, which were $1,175,581.21, and will
also exhibit the balance in the Treasury as of the 30th September 1854 to
have been $378,123.98, subject to the payment of the charges therein
stated, leaving a nett balance applicable to future demands of $109,946.11,

THE ESTIMATES,

Statement No. 3, will exhibit the Estimate of the probable receipts in
the current fiscal year.

Statement No. 4, will show the Estimate of probable demands upon
the Treasury for the current fiscal year.

"THE FUNDS"

A report of the Free School Fund and of the Sinking Fund, constitut-
ing "THE FUNDS," will be found comprised in Statement No. 5.
