A supplement to the act, entitled, an act to incorporate
|
 
|
the town, called and known by the name of Vienna,
|
 
|
in Dorchester county.
|
Power to tax dogs, &c.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted ly the General Assembly of
|
 
|
Maryland, That the Commissioners of the town of Vi-
|
 
|
enna are hereby empowered to assess and levy a reason-
|
 
|
able tax on dogs and bitches belonging to, or kept by
|
 
|
any of the inhabitants of said town, to be received and
|
 
|
collected as other taxes are, under the original law to
|
 
|
which this is a supplement, and the said commission-
|
 
|
ers, or a majority of them, may impose reasonable fines
|
 
|
and penalties under the ordinances or by-laws of said
|
 
|
town, for the restraining of dogs and bitches running at
|
 
|
at large within the limits thereof, and may authorise
|
 
|
and compel the bailiff to kill any dog or bitch within
|
 
|
the limits of said town, whose owner cannot be ascer-
|
 
|
tained, or whose owner or keeper shall refuse to make
|
 
|
the payment of taxes, fines and penalties imposed in
|
 
|
virtue of this act.

Repair roads
|
SEC. 2 . And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty
|
 
|
of the said commissioners to keep the streets and pub-
|
 
|
lic roads, lying within the limits of said town, in good
|
 
|
repair, and the bailiff or other person appointed by
|
 
|
them for that purpose shall have and possess, within
|
 
|
the limits of said town, all the powers that overseers of
|
 
|
public roads now have.
