CHAP. 44.
Proviso

and Thomas Gale, be and they are hereby appointed com-
missioners to survey, lay out, and open a road, not exceed-
ing thirty feet in width, in the best and most straight di-
rection, taking all circumstances into consideration, com-
mencing at or near Bohemia Ferry, in Cecil county, run-
ning thence across Bohemia Manor to Back Creek, at or
near Bohemia Village, thence by a bridge across the said
creek to Chesapeake city, thence in a northerly direction
until it intersects the road leading from Warwick to Elk-
ton, all in said county; and the said road, when so opened,
shall thereafter be deemed and taken to be a public road
forever, and shall be kept in repair in the same manner as
other public roads are directed to be kept in the said coun-
ty; Provided, the commissioners for said county shall first
decide that the said road is called for by the public conve-
nience of said county, and would be a public benefit to the
people thereof.

Damages to be
ascertained.

Sec. 2. And he it enacted, That the said commission-
ers, or a majority of them, shall value and ascertain the
damage that may be sustained by any person or person*
through whose land the said road may pass, taking into con-
sideration the advantages and disadvantages, if any, and
the damages so ascertained, shall be levied and assessed as
other county charges are levied and assessed in said coun-
ty.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the commissioners of
Cecil county be and they are hereby authorised to levy on
the taxable property of said county, a sum of money suffi-
cient to make the said road, and build the said bridge, and
satisfy the damages, if any, and pay the commissioners
named in the first section of this act a fair and reasonable
compensation for their services, not exceeding to each of
them two dollars per day.

An Act for the relief of William Clare, former Col-
lector of the Tax for Calvert County.

Authorised to
Collect tax.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland^ That William Clare, former collector of the
tax for Calvert county, be and he is hereby authorised and
empowered to collect the tax levied by the levy court of
Galvert county, in the years eighteen hundred nineteen,
