On motion of Mr. Watkins,
The invitation was accepted.

On motion of Mr. Merrytnan,

The Committee on Agriculture were granted leave to sit
during the session of the House this day.

The Speaker laid before the House the Report of the Board
of Trustees of the Maryland Agricultural College.

Which was read, and

Referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

Also,

The testimony in contested election case, Brooke vs. Wid-
dicombe.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Elec-
tions.

Mr. Berry presented the petition of Tobias Johnson and
one hundred citizens of Washington oounty, praying the pas-
sage of a law to levy a tax on dogs.

Which was read, and referred to the Washington county
delegation.

Mr. Stake presented the petition of David Brombaugh, P. H.
Wingert, and forty-six other citizens of Washington county,
praying a change in the charters of the several turnpike roads
in said county, allowing them to charge for travel upon their
roads, in proportion to the distance travelled, when not pass-
ing through the toll-gates.

Which was read, and referred to the Washington county
delegation.

Also,

Petition of sixty-four citizens of Washington county, pray-
ing the passage of a law for the protection of birds.

Which was read, and referred to the Washington county
delegation,

Mr. Harig presented the petition of John F. Fisher, et al.,
to pass an act to license inspectors of lumber in Baltimore
city.

Which was read, and referred to the Committee on In-
spections.

Mr. Duer presented the petition of Samuel Street, and
