276 PRINCE GEORGES COUNTY

of John Newman and Rebecka Newman Executor and Executrix of the Last
will and testament of John Barecroft Late in Wicomocoe River in Maryland
Deceased the Sume of four hundred and Sixteen pounds two Shillings and Six
pence due to him the Said Thomas Dafforne from the Said John Newman and
Rebecka for two Chests of Sundry Wares and Marchandizes by him the Said
Thomas Dafforne Shipt on board the Ann of London Benjamin Cooper Master
upon his the Said Thomas Daffornes proper Account and Adventure the ninth
day of December 1676: [1676] and Sent with and Consigned to the Said John
Barecroft as by the Said Letter of Attorney being Recorded in Calvert County
Court Relation being thereunto had may more at Large Appeare Now Know
all men by these presents that I John Lecount by vertue of the Said Letter
Attorney Aforesaid dated the tenth day of November Annoque Domini 1694
and haveing not Received the full Sume in the Said Letter of Attorney Men-
tioned have made Ordained Constituted and Appointed John Burd of Charles
County in the province of Maryland my Deputed Attorney in my Stead and
for the use and behoofe of the Said Thomas Dafforne to Receive of the aforesaid
John Newman and Rebecka all Such Sumes of Money or tobaccoes that is Left
behind and unpaid and upon non payment thereof to Sue Arrest Imprison and
Impleade them the Said John Newman and Rebecka or any other person or
persons whome the Said Debt or Remaining part thereof may Lawfully be
Recovered and upon Receipt or payment thereof them or any of them their
heires Executors or Administrators out of prisson to deliver and Release and
to make Scale and Deliver Acquittance or Acquittances or other Sufficient Dis-
charges and Releases to and for the Same and the Said John Lecount by these
presents doe Authorize and Impower the Said John Burd to Act and doe for
the Said Thomas Dafforne in the premises aforesaid as fully and Amply as I
the Said John Lecount Could doe by Vertue of the afore Recited Letter of
Attorney In Wittness whereof I the Said John Lecount have hereunto Sett my
hand and Scale this thirteenth day of Aprill Annoque Domini 1697.

The aforesaid Letter of Attorney at the Request of John Burd was Entred
upon Record the 28th day of September Annoque Domini 1697. per Joshua
Cecell Clerke.

[254] Att Prince Georges County Court held at Charles Towne the Second
day of November in the ninth yeare of the Reigne of our Sovereigne Lord
William the third by the grace of God of England Scotland France and Ireland
King Defender of the Faith etc. Annoque Domini 1697 By his Majesties Justices
thereunto Appointed and Authorized. (Viz.)

Present. Mr. Thomas Hollyday, Mr. William Barton, Mr. John Wighte, Mr.

Robert Tylor, Mr. John Smith, Mr. John Hawkins, Mr. Robert Wade, Mr.

Samuell Magruder, Mr. Thomas Sprigg, Commisoners.

Ordered by this Court that Mr. Thomas Hollyday According to his discretion
make or Cause to be made this fall a Roade the best and nearest way from
Charles Towne to the Woodyard.
