The Washington Cemetery Trustees were chartered by Chap-
ter 213, Acts of 187O. The three Trustees, appointed by the Gov-
ernor for three-year terms, are responsible for the maintenance
of Washington Cemetery, Hagerstown, where the Confederate dead
of the battles of Antietam and South Mountain are interred.

At the request of the Worcester County Board of County Commis-
sioners, the Governor appointed this three-man Advisory Board in
1961 to assist Worcester County in setting up regulations to assure
that Assateague Island growth would follow an orderly pattern.
