The Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, estab-
lished in 1939, consists of five members appointed by the (governor for
five-year terms, one term expiring each year. Four members must be
professional engineers and one a practicing land surveyor. Land sur-
veyors and professional engineers wishing to practice in the State of
Maryland must apply to the Board for a certificate, supplying with
their application evidence of their qualifications both in experience and
training. Except when a written examination is mandatory, the Board
may decide whether or not a particular applicant need take an exami-
nation. Through the cooperation of the local chapters of the engineer-
ing fraternities, the Board seeks to secure voluntary compliance with
the law and the maintenance of the ethical standards of the profes-
sion. The Board is a member of the National Council of State Boards
of Engineering Examiners, which aids in the reciprocal licensing of
engineers and seeks to promote uniform standards of licensing in all
States (Code 1957, Art. 75%, sees. 3-20).

The Board of Physical Therapy Examiners, created by the General
Assembly of 1947, consists of five members, one appointed each year
for a five-year term from lists submitted by the Medical and Chirur-
gical Faculty. The Board examines, licenses, and registers physical
therapists wishing to practice in Maryland (Code 1957, Art. 43, sees.
604-14).

The practice of psychology in Maryland is regulated by the State
Board of Examiners of Psychologists, established 1967. This Board
consists of five members appointed by the Governor from a list of
nominees presented by the Maryland Psychological Association, Inc.,
with the advice and consent of the Senate of Maryland (Code 1957,
Art. 43, sees. 628-44).
The Board evaluates the professional training, experience, and other
qualifications of psychologists in the State and issues certificates to
