MARYLAND MANUAL 161

Louis L. GOLDSTEIN, Democrat, Calvert County; born in Prince
Frederick, March 14, 1913. He attended the Calvert County public
schools and Washington College, Chestertown, graduating in 1935,
and the University of Maryland Law School; admitted to the Bar
1940. During World War II, he served with the United States
Marine Corps (1942-46) in the Philippine and Asiatic Theatres,
enlisting as a private, he was discharged as a first lieutenant. He
is a Commissioner from Maryland on the Atlantic States Marine
Fisheries Commission. Married. He was a member of the House
of Delegates 1938-1942. Elected to the Senate in 1946.

STANFORD HOFF, Republican, Carroll County; born in Westminster,
March 31, 1911; attended the public schools of Westminster, Western
Maryland College, and the University of Maryland Law School,
graduating in 1934. Attorney. He is a member of the Legislative
Council. During World War II, he served with the 36th Field
Artillery and the 77th Division Artillery in the Asiatic and Pacific
Theatres; entering as a First Lieutenant, he was discharged a Lieu-
tenant Colonel. Chairman of Republican State Central Committee
of Maryland since 1948. Married. He was member of the House
of Delegates 1939-1942. Elected to the Senate in 1946.

Louis T. HOFFEEBERT, Democrat, Baltimore 1st; born in Baltimore,
December 4, 1906. Attended Sacred Heart School. Manager of Sta-
tionery Department. Married. Appointed to the Senate, 1947.

GUY JOHNSON, Democrat, Cecil County; born in Elkton, May 18,
1878. Attended the public schools of Cecil County and Elkton Acad-
emy; extension courses at The Johns Hopkins University and the Uni-
versity of Delaware. Principal of the high schools at Northeast,
Chesapeake City, and Elkton. Unmarried. Elected to the Senate
in 1946.

THOMAS F. JOHNSON, Democrat, Worcester County; born in Snow
Hill, June 26, 1909. Attended Staunton Military Academy and Uni-
versity of Virginia. Attorney, admitted to the bar in 1933. He served
as State's Attorney for Worcester County, 1934-1938. Married.
Elected to the Senate in 1938.

ROBERT B. KIMBLE, Republican, Allegany County; born at Williams-
port, Washington County, Maryland, October 2, 1903. Elected to the
House of Delegates in 1932. Married. Elected to the Senate in 1934.

JAMES OTIS MCALLISTER, Republican, Dorchester County; born in
Vienna, Maryland, August 17, 1904. Attended the public schools in
Dorchester County; Strayer-Bryant-Stratton School, Baltimore; Wes-
ley Junior College, Dover, Delaware; and La Salle Extension Univer-
sity of Chicago. Admitted to the Bar in 1947. Treasurer of the
Dorchester Fertilizer Company of Cambridge. He has served as
Assistant Postmaster of Vienna, 1923-1928; Clerk, Dorchester County
Commissioners, 1939-1946; Director of Civilian Defense, Dorchester
County, 1941-1945. Married. Elected to the Senate in 1946.

DAVID K. McLAUGHUN, Republican, Washington County; born at
Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, October 17, 1905. Attended the public
schools of Washington County and the Dickinson School of Law,
graduating in 1928; admitted to the Bar the same year. From 1942
to 1945, he served with the U. S. Naval Air Force holding the rank
