The board shall consist of five (5) professional engineers, all of
whom shall be appointed by the Governor from nominees recom-
mended by the Maryland Chapter or Section of the American Society
of Civil Engineers, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers,
the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, and the American
Institute of Chemical Engineers, and who shall have the qualifications
required by Section 4 of this Act. The Board shall consist of at least
one Civil Engineer, one Mechanical Engineer, one Electrical Engineer
and one Chemical Engineer. The above societies shall each recom-
mend not more than three nominees for the first board. In filling a
vacancy, there being only one engineer of that classification on the
board, the society of that classification only shall recommend not
more than three nominees. If a vacancy occurs in a classification with
two engineers on the board, each of the societies above mentioned
shall recommend not more than three nominees.

the practice of professional engineering for at least twelve (12)
years, and shall have been in responsible charge of important engi-
neering work for at least five (5) years.

The Governor appoints three Certified Public Accountants (one each
year) for terms of three years each, together with one attorney for
a term of two years, and one economist (selected from a list of three
names submitted by the President of Johns Hopkins University) for
a term of two years (Chapter 585, 1924; Bagby's Annotated Code of
Public General Laws of Maryland, Article 75-A).
The duties of this Board are to examine applicants for certificates
as Certified Public Accountants. Examinations are held once a year,
usually in November, and are conducted according to the Board's rules
and regulations. The names of those persons who pass the examina-
tions are transmitted by the Board to the Governor, and to such
persons the Governor issues certificates. The Governor may revoke
any such certificate for cause.
