peals as per certificate of the Comptroller and
Treasurer, five hundred and eighty-two dollars
and forty-four cents ; and to Jacob Markee, Col-
lector of State Taxes in Cecil County, for overpay-
ment as per certificate of the Comptroller and
Treasurer, twenty-six dollars and seventy-one
cents.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted. That this Act shall
take effect from its passage.

CHAPTER 177.
AN ACT to repeal Section six hundred and nine-
teen of Article four of the Public Local Laws
entitled "City of Baltimore," sub-title "Jus-
tices of the Peace and Constables," and to re-
enact the same so as to read as follows :

SECTION 1 . Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Section six hundred and nine-
teen of Article four of the Public Local Laws, en-
titled "City of Baltimore," sub-title "Justices of
the Peace and Constables," be,and the same is here-
by repealed and re-enacted so as to read as follows :

619. The Governor of the State, by and with the
advice and consent of the Senate, shall, at the time
designated by law, appoint for the several wards of
the city of Baltimore, the following number of Jus-
tices of the Peace, that is to say : For ward num-
ber one, two Justices of the Peace ; for ward num-
ber two, two Justices of the Peace; for ward
number three, one Justice of the Peace ; for ward
number four, one Justice of the Peace ; for ward
number five, one Justice of the Peace ; for ward
number six, one Justice of the Peace ; for ward
number seven, two Justices of the Peace ; for ward
number eight, one Justice of the Peace ; for ward
