LAWS OF MARYLAND.— 1824.

 

annually, on the first Monday of April, on pain that any person
thus omitting or neglecting to renew his license, and continuing
to keep open his billiard table for use, shall be liable to all the
penalties mentioned in this act ; And provided, that any person
applying for a license after the first Monday of April, shall pay
in proportion to the time the said license has to run, ending
on the day immediately preceding the first Monday of April
annually.

Penalty for
neglect.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That any person or persons keep-
ing or exhibiting for use, a billiard table or tables, without first
obtaining a license as aforesaid, shall forfeit and pay the sum of
five hundred dollars ; one-half to the informer; and the other
half to the state, to be recovered in the county court in which
such offence may be committed,

Clerks to
pay to the
treasurer.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted. That the clerks of the several
counties shall pay to the treasurer of the western or eastern
shore, as the case may be, all the moneys received under the
provisions of this act, at the same time and in the same manner,
that the amount received for marriage licenses is payable.

List of per-
sons having
license.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the county clerks of the
several counties shall annually, on or before the first day of
May, transmit to the treasurer of their respective shores, a list
of all persons obtaining licenses under this act.

Repeal.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That all laws inconsistent with,
or repugnant to the provisions of this act, be, and the same are
hereby repealed.

Corpora-
tions may
impose ad-
ditional tax.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That nothing contained in this
act, shall be taken or construed to impair the right of the cor-
porations of the cities of Baltimore, Annapolis, Frederick, or
the commissioners of the town of Easton, or of any other incor-
porated town in this state, to impose any further or additional
tax upon billiard tables.

CHAPTER 65.
A SUPPLEMENT to an ACT, entitled, an Act relating to the trial of causes
in Baltimore County Court.
This act, with the very many alterations thereof, will be found in the
subdivision, 'Public Local Law,' and under the title 'Baltimore County
Court,1 where they will he arranged in consecutive order.
