and other necessaries ; to keep a fair, distinct and clear ac-
count, in writing, of all the moneys by them received and ex-
pended by virtue of this act, and the act to which this is a sup-
plement, and to return a true copy thereof, on oath, and shew
and produce the vouchers to support the same, to the justices of
said county, at their May courts yearly, to be by the said justices
inspected and examined ; which said accounts shall be lodged
with the clerk of the said court.

SEC. 11. And be it enacted. That the justices of the said
county shall, and they are hereby empowered and directed, to
assess and levy in the year eighteen hundred, and annually
for ever thereafter, on all the property in said county subject
and liable to assessment, at the time of laying their county rate,
such sum of current money as by the said trustees, and their
successors, may be thought necessary, not exceeding three
shillings and nine-pence on every hundred pounds of property
as aforesaid, in said county, together with the collectors's com-
mission of six per cent, for collecting the same; which said
assessment shall be made, levied and collected, in the same
manner as herein before directed, and when so collected, shall
be paid by the collector to the said trustees, and their suc-
cessors, or to their order under their common seal, who are
hereby authorized and required to receive and apply the same
to and for the use, benefit and charge, of maintaining the said
poor, vagrants, beggars, vagabonds and offenders, in the pur-
chasing provisions, and other necessaries for use and labour,
in paying a doctor for his attendance, medicines and advice, in
providing men and women servants and nurses, to be under
the direction and management of the overseer of such alms and
work-bouse, who shall be appointed by virtue of this act, and
the act to which this is a supplement, and in purchasing mate-
rials for the use and employment of all beggars, vagrants, vaga-
bonds and offenders, who shall be able to work, and who shall
be committed by virtue of the act to which this is a supplement.
SEC. 12. Retrospective.

SEC. 13. And be it enacted, That the trustees herein before
appointed, and their successors, and each and every of them,
shall be and are hereby authorized and empowered to retain in
their hands respectively, out of the sum or sums of money
which shall or may be assessed, levied and collected, by virtue
of (his act, the sum of thirty dollars annually, as a compensa-
tion for their services as trustees of the poor of the county of
Washington aforesaid, as long as they continue to act as such.

SEC. 14. And be it enacted. That all penalties and forfeitures
by this act imposed shall be recoverable by the said trustees,
and their successors, by the name aforesaid, before any justice
