CAROLINE COUNTY.

A SUPPLEMENT to an ACT passed at December session, eighteen hundred
and twenty-five, chapter thirty-six, relating to the Trustees of the Alms-
house, for Caroline County. — 1835, ch. III.

SEC. 1. Be if enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, the trustees for
the alms-house for Caroline county, shall be each entitled to
charge and receive the sum of one dollar for each and every
day they may attend at the alms-house in said county, and also

the same mileage as is now by law allowed to jurors and wit-
nesses for attending the county court ; the same to be made
out, levied and collected as other county charges are.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the first section of the act
to which this is a supplement, be, and the same is hereby
repealed.

AN ACT to introduce the cultivation of the Mulberry Tree, and raising of
Silk at the Alms house in Caroline County —1838, ch. 296

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the levy court of Caioline county, be, and they are hereby
authorized, if in their judgment the interests of said county
will be promoted theieby, to levy upon the assessable pio-
perty of said county, a sum not exceeding two bundled dol-
lars, to be applied to the cultivation of mulberry trees and the
raising of silk as herein after provided.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That in case said levy is made,
the sum so levied shall be placed under the direction of the
trustees of the poor of Caroline county, who shall apply it to
the cultivation of the mulberry tree and raising of silk at the
alms-house, in such manner as in then judgment may be
deemed most suitable and advantageous for the interests of
the county.

repealed as to Caroline County, by 1823, ch. 27.

AN ACT to ascertain the allowance to Sheriffs for keeping Prisoners in Jail,
charged with criminal offences, and finding them Victuals, in the several
Counties therein mentioned. — 1823, ch. 27.

Allowance.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That it shall and may be lawful for the sheriffs of Caroline and
Somerset counties, to ask, demand and receive, for keeping
prisoners in jail charged with criminal offence, and finding him
victuals, twenty cents per day (exclusive of fire-wood) to be
levied and collected according to law.

Date.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect and
be in force from and after the first day of March next.
