boards, not having more than four knots of not more than an inch
in diameter, in any one board or plank, and all sap boards that
are not mildewed, shall be marked with two straight marks
near the mark of quantity, to designate its quality ; and all
other boards, which the inspector shall determine not to be
sufficiently free from defects, to pass as second quality, shall be
marked as cullings.

P LA I 8 TE R P ARIS .
AN ACT to provide for the Inspection of Plaister Paris, in the City of
Baltimore.— 1832, ch. 282.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, it is of importance that plaister paris should be of
good quality, accurately weighed, and well coopered ; therefore,

to appoint
inspector
annaally.

SEC. 1 . Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the governor, by and with the advice and consent of the
council, shall, after the passage of this act, and before the first
day of June next, and in every year thereafter, appoint a person
of integrity and good character, as inspector of plaister paris, in
the city of Baltimore.

Oath of
office.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said inspector of plaister
paris, so appointed, before he enters upon the execution of the
duties of his office, shall make the following oath or affirmation,
before some justice of the peace : 'I do solemnly swear (or affirm
as the case may be) that I will faithfully, truly, and impartially
execute the duties imposed upon me by law, as inspector of
piaister paris, to the best of my judgment and understanding,
and that I will not buy, trade, or barter, or be concerned, di-
rectly or indirectly, in buying, trading, or bartering, for any
plaister paris, in the city of Baltimore, whilst an inspector of
the same, so help me God.'
SEC.3, 4, 5, 6. Repealed by 1833, ch. 275, sec. 4.

Deputy
inspectors.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the said inspector, be, and
he is hereby authorized and required to appoint as many de-
puties as he may deem necessary to carry into effect the pro-
Visions of this act, who, as such, shall be required to make the
oath or affirmation above prescribed, and for whose official acts
the said inspector shall, in all respects, be liable.

A SUPPLEMENT to an ACT, entitled, an Act to provide for the Inspection
of Plaister Paris, in the City of Baltimore, passed at December session,
eighteen hundred and thirty-two, chapter two hundred and eighty-two.

That from and after the passage of this, it shall not be law-
ful to sell, expose or offer for sale, any ground plaister paris,
within the limits of the city of Baltimore, whether the same be
