INSPECTIONS.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of said
weigh-master to account quarterly to the treasurer of the western
shore for all moneys received and expenses incurred, in pur-
suance of the duties and charges prescribed by this act, and
pay over to the order of said treasurer the net quarterly proceeds
of his office.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That said weigh-master when
appointed, shall before he enters upon the duties of his office
take and subscribe the following oath or affirmation before some
person authorized to administer the same, viz : — I do solemnly
swear, or affirm, (as the case may be) that I will faithfully, truly
and impartially, according to the best of my judgment and
ability, execute and perform all the duties of weigh master of
live stock which are or may be prescribed by law, and that I
will not either directly or indirectly, engage or be concerned in
grazing, buying or butchering live stock; which oath shall be
reduced to writing and filed in the clerk's office of Baltimore

two securities, to be approved by the mayor or city council of
Baltimore, in the penal sum of five thousand dollars, conditioned
to pay all damages that may be sustained by reason of wilful
omission, refusal or neglect to discharge the duties which are or
may be prescribed by law, which said bond shall also be filed

neglect or refusal.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That if said weigh-master shall
omit or delay to weigh, or cause to be weighed, any live stock
required by this act to be weighed, for a time not exceeding
twenty-four hours, after he shall have been requested to weigh
the same, he shall forfeit and pay to the owner of such live
stock, or his agent, the sum of ten cents an hour upon each and
every head thereof, for so many hours as he shall omit or delay
to weigh the same, over and above the term of twenty-four
hours, Sunday* exceptcd, which penalty shall, or may be re-
coverable in an action of debt, with costs, before a justice of the
peace.

SEC 9. And be it enacted, That in case any such weigh-
master shall at any time by reason of sickness or other cause,
be unable personally to attend to the duties of his office, or in
case the number of live stock required to be weighed by him,
shall be greater than he can weigh without aid, then in either
case it shall be lawful for said weigh-master, to appoint one or
more persons, deputy weighers, to act in his stead, or aid him
in the performance of his duties, which deputies shall be paid
by the weigh-master appointing them, and shall be accountable
to him for the faithful discharge of their duties, and the weigh-
