Mr. Earle submitted the following message:
By THE SENATE,
January 3d, 1867.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:
The President of the Senate being present, the Senate has
been organized by the appointment of Augustus Gassaway,
Esq., as Secretary. We are now ready to proceed with the
business of the session, and propose, with the concurrence of
your Honorable Body, the appointment of a Joint Committee
of five members to wait on the Governor, and inform him
that the Legislature is prepared to receive any communication
he may be pleased to make. We have appointed on the part
of the Senate Messrs, Earle and Davis, of Caroline.

Which was read, assented to, and sent to the House of
Delegates.
On motion of Mr. Henkle, it was
Ordered, That the Rev. F. S. Casgady be appointed Chap-
lain to the Senate.
On motion of Mr. Stirling, it was
Ordered, That two thousand copies of the Lieutenant Gov-
ernor's address be printed for the use of the Senate, three
hundred of which shall be in the German language.
Mr. Vickers presented the petition of David Blockson,
State's Attorney of Caroline county, for remuneration as
State's Attorney, for prosecuting William B. Paca and his
sons for murder;
Which was read and ordered to be referred to the commit-
tee on Finance, when appointed.
On motion of Mr. Vickers,
Leave was granted to Messrs. Vickers, Waters and Stir-
ling, to report a bill relating to the Kent County Rail Road
Company, and to authorize the said company to condemn and
purchase lands for the construction of said road.
On motion of Mr. Davis, of Caroline,
Leave was granted to Messrs. Davis, of Caroline, Earle and
Frazier, to introduce a bill to change the appropriation of
thirteen thousand dollars, made to the Choptank and Mis-
sipillion Rail Road Company, by chapter 303 of the Acts of
1860, and appropriate the same the Dorchester and Delaware
Rail Road Company, incorporated in 1866, chapter 52.
