SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Sterling. Gault, Josiah Baum-
gartiner, Levi Buffington, John Winemiller,
Thomas F. Cover, Samuel Buzzard, James Dela-
plaine, Lycurgus N. Phillips, Christian Rahter,
George Sayler, John W. Barrick, John Smith, of
M., John Fulton, Samuel Gault, John Norris,
Henry R. Harris, Christian Winebrenner, Joseph
Baugher, Clinton Johnson, Adam Diehl, James
McSherry, Jr., be and they are hereby appointed
Commissioners, under the direction of whom sub-
scriptions may be received to the capital stock of
the Frederick and Pennsylvania line Rail Road
Company hereby incorporated, and they or a ma-
jority of them may cause hooks to be opened at
such times and places as they may direct, for the
purpose of receiving subscriptions to the capital
stock of said Company, after having given such
notice of the the times and places of opening the
same as they may deem proper, and if such sub-
scriptions to the capital stock of said Company as
is necessary for its incorporation be not previously
obtained, the said books may be opened from time
to time during the period of three years from the
passage of this Act, at the discretion of said Com-
missioners or a majority of them, and if any of
said Commissioners shall die, or refuse to act dur-
ing the continuance of the duties devolved upon
them by this Act, others may be appointed in their
stead by the remaining Commissioners or a ma-
jority of them. |
Capital stock. |
Sec. 2. And be it enacted. That the capital
stock of the said Frederick and Pennsylvania line
Rail Road Company shall be one million of dollars
in shares of fifty dollars each, which said capital
stock may be increased at the discretion of the
Commissioners or the Directors to be appointed as
hereinafter provided, to any amount not exceeding
two millions of dollars, and as soon as one thou-
sand shares of the capital stock shall be subscribed, |
