Sec. 6. And be it enacted. That the officers and
Directors so elected shall hold their offices for one
year and until their successors are elected and en-
ter upon the duties of their offices, and an election
for such officers and Directors shall be held on the
second Monday of March in each year.

Sec. 7. And be it enacted. That the President
and Directors of said Company may adopt from
time to time such by-laws, rules and regulations
as may be necessary for the good government of

Sec. 8. And be it enacted, That no subscriber
for stock in said Company shall be entitled to vote
for President or Directors of said Company with-
out paying one dollar on each share of stock sub-
scribed for by him.

Sec. 9. And be it enacted. That the sums sub-
scribed to the stock of said Company shall be paid
to the President and Directors in the manner and
in such instalments, and at such times as the Pre-
sident and Directors shall direct, they giving at
least one month public notice of the time when

Sec. 10. And be it enacted. That the said Com-
pany shall cause to be made upon the bed of said
Turnpike road an artificial road of stone, gravel,
wood or some other hard substance, the bed of
which shall be at the least sixteen feet wide, and
when three miles of said road shall have been.
completed in the manner aforesaid, it shall and
may be lawful for said Company to erect a toll gate
thereon and charge and receive such tolls as are
now charged and received by the Baltimore and
Harford Turnpike Company.

Sec. 11. And be it enacted, That as soon as the
said Company shall have completed three miles
of either end of the said. road and so-on, from
time to time any other like distance progressing,
they may erect and fix such and as many toll gates
on the said Turnpike road, on such parts thereof
as the said Company may deem proper, at which
shall be charged such tolls as are hereinbefore
provided for, and appoint toll-gatherers to receive
the same, and the said Company shall have the
