Jerusalem Turnpike Company be incorporated in
the stead thereof.

SECTION 2. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That William Clagett, Henry Kirk,
A. W. Goldsborough, John S. Biddison, Francis
Shanabrook, Joseph Brooks, Wilson Townsend,
Henry Lange, Robert Lehr, Gustavus Nicholson,
David Lee, L. G. Quinlin, Albert M. Brown and
Joseph H. Lewis or any three of them, and all
other persons who may subscribe to the stock of
the Baltimore and Jerusalem Turnpike Company
hereby incorporated, be, and they are hereby made
a body corporate and politic, by the name and
style aforesaid, and by that name shall have per-
petual succession, may sue and be sued, may have
and use a common seal and may alter the same at
pleasure.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the cor-
poration hereby created shall have for its objects,
and is hereby authorized to grade and make a
Turnpike road, beginning for the same at the lim-
its of the city of Baltimore on the Bel-Air road
and running upon and occupying the said Bel-Air
road from the said city to the old stage or Camp
Chapel road, and from thence on. said Bel-Air road
to the Little Gunpowder Falls, with power to di-
verge from the bed of said road when and where
it may be desirable to said Company, to use and
occupy a width of thirty feet on each side from the

center; provided, that the said Company shall
proceed to make said Turnpike road commencing
at Baltimore city, and making two miles from
thence, and also at the Little Gunpowder Falls at
Jerusalem, making one mile from thence towards
Baltimore city, and so proceed from time to time,
progressing from each end; the subscribers in the
vicinity of the lower or Baltimore end of said road
taking stock in the aggregate amounting to six
hundred and sixty-seven shares, and the subscrib-
ers in the vicinity of the upper or Little Gunpow-
der end of said road taking stock in the aggregate
amounting to three hundred and thirty-three
shares, amounting in all to one thousand shares or
twenty-five thousand dollars, the said Company,
may then obtain from the Commissioners of Balti-
more county the subscription to the capital stock
