88 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 15,

The door-keeper was sent after the absent members.

The door-keeper returned and reported that he had notified
all the members who were in the city to attend.

On motion of Mr. Thomas,

All further proceedings under the call were dispensed with.

The said bill being under consideration,

Mr. Hammond submitted the following amendment to the
preamble:

At the end of the first page insert:

And whereas, There is every reason to believe that the per-
sons so deprived of the right of voting and of holding office,
are now faithful to the State and to the government of the
United States.

Which was adopted.
