This Commission consists of the Governor, Comptroller, President
of the Maryland Agricultural College and President of Johns Hopkins
University, who appoint a Geologist of established reputation. (Chap-
ter 51, 1896).

The State Geological and Economic Survey is established for the
purpose of the examination of the Geological formation of the State
with a special reference to their economic product, and the preparation
of special geological and economic maps to illustrate the resources of
the State.
