Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:
We have assembled to-day in extra session by order of the
Executive of the State, for the transaction of business of an
important character. During the period that has intervened
since our adjournment in March of the past year, we have
had opportunities afforded us to seek our homes and recu-
perate our strength, so that we can now enter with renewed
vigor upon the discharge of the duties demanded by the
interests of the Commonwealth we represent. And I indulge
the hope that we are all ready and anxious to renew the
kindly feelings and extend the courtesies and amenities that
characterized our intercourse while engaged in the business
of the regular session.
