said town, enforce the ordinances enacted by the Town Com-
missioners, and perform such other duties as the Town Com-
missioners may prescribe, and who shall have, within said
corporate limits, all the authority of a constable in making
arrests and serving warrants and processes, whether ordered
and issued by the Town Commissioners or the president
thereof, or by any justice of the peace.

Commission'rs
and all officers
shall make
oath.

99. The Town Commissioners of La Plata and all other
officers of the corporation created by this Act or appointed by
isaid Town Commissioners shall, before they enter upon the
duties of their respective offices, make oath before some justice
of the peace that they will diligently and faithfully, to the
best of their skill and judgment, perform the duties of their
office, and shall file a certificate thereof, signed by the officer
before whom the said oath was taken, among the records of
the corporation.

Clerk and
bailiff shall
give bond.
|
100. The clerk and bailiff appointed in accordance with the
provisions of this Act shall each give bond to the "Town
Commissioners of La Plata," in such penalty and with such
sureties as said Town Commissioners may require and approve,
conditioned for the faithful performance of the duties of their
office as clerk and bailiff, respectively, and the said bonds
shall, if the Town Commissioners require, be recorded in the
office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Charles County.

Compensation
|
101. The Town Commissioners of La Plata shall allow
their clerk and bailiff such compensation as may be deemed
reasonable by said Town Commissioners.

102. The Town Commissioners of La Plata shall pass and
enact such ordinances, not inconsistent with law, as they may
deem beneficial to the town and" necessary for the good gov-
ernment thereof; they may open, widen, straighten, change
and close highways, roads, streets, lanes and alleys within
the corporate limits of said town of La Plata, and may make,
grade, repair and pave the same; they may remove nuisances
and obstructions from said town; they may restrain all dis-
orders and disturbances within said town; they may prevent
and prohibit all congregations of disorderly persons within
the limits of said town; they may apprehend and fine all
tramps, vagabonds and disorderly persons who shall enter or
be found within the limits of said town; they may impose a
tax on all geese, dogs, hogs and other animals running at
large within the limits of said town; or may prohibit such
running at large under such penalties as they may choose to
impose upon the owners of such geese and animals; they may
