SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That no person in the City of Baltimore shall purchase
from a child or minor under the age of sixteen years any hard-
ware, plumbing, gas or electric fixtures, tools, household
utensils, books, ornaments, jewelry, poultry, or animals of
any kind, unless the said child or minor under the age of six-
teen years is accompanied by his or her parent or guardian, or
by some adult person known to the purchaser, who shall cer-
tify that the said child or minor under the age of sixteen
years has come by the goods honestly, and has a right to sell
the same.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That any person offending against
the preceding sections, and any person falsely certifying that
he knows the child or minor under the age of sixteen has ob-
tained the goods honestly, and has a right to sell the same,
shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction
thereof shall be fined not more than two hundred dollars, or
committed to jail for not more than six months, or fined and
imprisoned as aforesaid.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That nothing in this Act shall
in any way affect Section two hundred and thirty-four, Article
27 of the Maryland Code of Public General Laws, entitled
"Receiving Stolen Goods, Money or Securities."

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 740.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact Sections I43A, 143B, 143 C
and 143 D of Article 23 of the Code of Public General Laws
of Maryland, title "Corporations," sub-title "Insurance
Department," said sections, when enacted, to cover the
subject of insurance brokers."

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 143 A., 143 B, 143 C and 143 D of Article
23 of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, title
"Corporations," sub-title "Insurance Department," as the
same were enacted by Chapter three hundred and seventy-
seven of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of
eighteen hundred and ninety-four, be and the same are hereby
repealed and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
