AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

To be added to section 2: "Charter of the Mercantile
Bank of Baltimore, and said stockholders shall be liable
to the amount of their respective shares of stock for all.
debts and liabilities of said corporation upon note, bill or
o th erw ise."
Which proposed amendment was adopted.
Pending further consideration of which bill,
On motion of Mr. Williams, of Harford,
Said bill was made the Special Order of the Day for
Wednesday, March 7th, at 1 P. M.
Also favorably, with proposed amendment,
Senate bill No. 43, entitled "An Act to incorporate the
Chesapeake and Northern Railway Company."
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.

In section 8, line 3, insert the words "for State pur-
poses," after the word "only” on said line.
Amend section 9 by adding at end of said section,
"and duly ratified at an'electiou by a majority of the tax-
payers qualified to vote."
In section 3, line 2 of the printed bill, strike out the
words "five hundred thousand," and insert in lieu there-
of the following words, "two millions."
Strike out the words in section 5 from the word "from,"
on 3d line of the printed bill to the word "to," on line 7
of said section, and insert in place of said words so
stricken out the following words:
"A point on the Chesapeake Bay, near Plum Point, in
Calvert county, Maryland; thence through or near the
village of Sunderland; thence through or near the village
of Bladensburg, in Prince George county; thence through
or near the village of Sligo; thence near the town of
Rockville; thence through or near the village of Middle-
burg; thence through or near the town of Hyatts-
town ; thence through or near the village of Clarks-
burg, in Montgomery county; thence through or
near the town of Frederick; thence through or near the
village of Utica, thence through or near the town of
Thurmont, thence through or near the town of Emmitts-
burg in Frederick county, thence due north, to the State
of Pennsylvania line.
