and by the Mayor of Baltimore and other persons, that
members of the General Assembly of this session, have
been bribed or offered bribes for the purpose of influ-
encing their actions and votes on current legislation; it
is therefore
Ordered by the House of Delegates, That the Speaker
of this House be. and he is hereby authorized and direct-
ed to appoint at once an Investigating Committee, to be
composed cf five members of the House, for the purpose
of investigating any and all charges of bribery or at-
tempted bribery in regard to the business of this session,
and for the purpose of carrying this order into effect the
said committee shall have all the powers conferred by
the Constitution on this House as the grand inquest of
the State, and may sit at such times and places as may
seem fit and proper for the purpose of taking testimony,
Said committee shall, at all times, be subject to the order
of this House and shall report daily a full account of all
proceedings and all testimony taken.
Mr. Waller moved that the rules be suspended in order
that the order might be immediately considered.
