1900. ] OF THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES. 449

ment of the city. The prosperity of Baltimore is
essential for the prosperity of the counties of the
State, and in increasing the revenues of the city and
thereby lessening the oppressive local taxes is a direct
benefit to the counties of the State as well as the city.
That the tax-payers of this city at present contribute a
large per cent, of the moneys expended in carrying on
the public schools in the counties and furnishing free
books to the pupils of the public schools of the counties,
this contribution in taxes to the counties but gives an ad-
ditional reason why the city in the matter of this local
revenue from liquor dealers should be entirely devoted
to meet the large municipal expenditure therefor.

Resolved that the General Assembly be, and is hereby
requested to pass the bill now pending which gives to
Baltimore the whole of the money received from the
liquor license fees.

Resolved, That this petition and resolution after at-
taching to the same the names of the President and vice-
Presidents of this meeting be forwarded to Senator Olin
Bryan, of the Senate, and Hon. A. Lee Knott, of the
House of Delegates with the request that they be read
to their respective bodies, and spread upon the journals
of the Senate and House of Delegates.
