    The senate having qualified agreeably to the constitution and form of government, proceeded to the election
of a council to the governor, the ballot box being prepared, the ballots were deposited therein, sealed up, and 
delivered to the committee of the senate appointed to meet the committee of the house of delegates, who retired
to the conference room, and after the examination of the ballots returned and reported, that Thomas Buchanan,
Arthur Shaaf, James Thomas, John Davidson and Samuel Ridout, had a majority of votes.
    Whereupon it is declared in the senate, that Thomas Buchanan, Arthur Shaaf, James Thomas, John Davidson
and Samuel Ridout are duly elected a council to the governor.
    Nicholas Hammond, Esquire, has leave of absence till Monday the first day of December.

The senate adjourns till to-morrow morning 10 o'clock.

W    E    D    N    E    S    D    A    Y,    November 12, 1800.

    THE senate met.  Present the same members as on yesterday, except Nicholas Hammond, Esquire, who had
leave of absence.  The proceedings of yesterday were read.  Uriah Forrest, Esquire, has leave of absence.
    The clerk of the house of delegates delivers the following message.

By the HOUSE of DELEGATES, November 12, 1800.
        GENTLEMEN OF THE SENATE,
    THE office of register of wills being vacant in Harford county, we propose, with the concurrence of your
house, to go into an election immediately.  Mr. Abraham Jarrett and Mr. Alexander Lawson Smith are nominated
by this house to fill this office, and we have appointed Mr. Nelson and Mr. Edmondson, in conjunction
with any members of your house, to examine the ballots.
                                                                By order,                                                W.  HARWOOD, clk.
Which was read.
    Charles Ridgely, of Hampton, Esquire, has leave of absence till Monday next.
    The bill to repeal an act, entitled, An act for the more effectual preservation of the breed of wild deer in Somerset
and Dorchester counties, so far as it respects the county of Dorchester, was read the second time and
will pass.
    The following message was prepared, read, agreed to, and sent to the house of delegates by the clerk.
By the SENATE, November 12, 1800.
        GENTLEMEN,
    WE are ready to proceed immediately to the election of register of wills of Harford county, as proposed by
you.  No person is put in nomination for that office by the senate in addition to those named by you.  John
Chesley and William Hindman, Esquires, are appointed to join the gentlemen named in your message in the examination
of the ballots.
                                                                By order,                                                W. S.  GREEN, clk.
    The senate then proceeded to the election of a person to be commissioned as register of wills for Harford
county; the ballot box being prepared, the ballots were deposited therein, sealed up, and delivered to the committee
of the senate appointed to meet the committee of the house of delegates, who retired to the conference
room, and after the examination of the ballots returned and reported, that Abraham Jarrett had a majority of
votes.
    Whereupon it is declared in the senate, that Abraham Jarrett be recommended to the governor to be commissioned
as register of wills for Harford county.
The senate adjourns till to-morrow morning 10 o'clock.

T    H    U    R    S    D    A    Y,    November 13, 1800.

    THE senate met.  Present the same members as on yesterday, except Charles Ridgely, of Hampton, Esquire,
who had leave of absence.  The proceedings of yesterday were read.
    The bill to repeal an act, entitled, An act for the more effectual preservation of wild deer in Somerset
and Dorchester counties, so far as it respects the county of Dorchester, was sent to the house of delegates
by the clerk.
    The president communicates to the senate an account of the debts due to this state, reported by the agent,
agreeably to the directions of the act to appoint an agent for the year one thousand eight hundred; ordered
to lie on the table.
    The clerk of the house of delegates delivers a bill, entitled, An act declaring a road or street leading from the
Reister's-town turnpike road to intersect Howard-street a public highway, endorsed; " By the house of delegates,
" November 11, 1800:  Read the first time ordered to lie on the table.
                                                                " By order,                                                W.  HARWOOD, clk.
" By the house of delegates, November 12, 1800:  Read the second time by especial order and will pass.
                                                                " By order,                                                W.  HARWOOD, clk."
