That he the said James upon the 20^th: day of ffebruary last past did bind himselfe
his heirs executo^rs: or adm^rs: in a bill under the hand and seale of him the s^d: James -
for the payment of ffourteen hides According to the Tenor of the afores^d: bill w^ch - bill we -
have & here in Court producd but he the s^d: James fraudulently intending the pl^t: to deceive of
The afores^d: hides doth deny & still doth deny to pay the same although often thereunto -
required by the pl^t: whereupon the pl^t: Saith he is damnified and hath damage to the vallew
of 2800^lb: of Toba^o: & thereupon brings this Suite &^t = Bill read - = - - - -
Maryland Ss Know all men by these presents that I James Berry of the County of Sum^rsett in the
province afores^d:Tanner doe acknowledge and Confess my Selfe to be firmly and justly indebted unto
Peter Whaples Cordwinder of the same County him his heirs or Executo^rs: the full & just quantity
of Seaven good Suffitient large well Tanned hides of Sole Leather and alsoe Seaven good -
Suffitient upper Leather hides well Curried to be well and truly paid at or before the Tenth day
of August next that Shall happen it being for a vallueable Consideration to the true performance
Thereof I bind my Selfe my heirs and Executo^rs: firmly by these presents Withness my hand

and prayeth Liberty to Imparle hereunto untill the Next County Court & it is granted him

Whereupon it is Considered by this Court here that the said Peter Whaples recover ag^t:
The said James Berry as well the said fourteen hides according to the Contents of

The Petition of John Hains Sheweth -
That Whereas your peticoner in the yeare of our Lord 1686 upon the Last day of the afores^d:
Mounth your peticoner did Covenant and agree to and with John Johnson planter for the Term
of ffour yeares Service to Serve him in Such Service as he the s^d: John Should Employ
him and in Consideracon of the said ffour yeares Service the said John did Oblidge himselfe
To make a perfect Cure of a Soare Legg and Scald head your petioner haveing served //
The said Johnson Two yeares of the time afores^d: for his Cure but he the said Johnson
Sould your peticon^r: unto Samuell Handy for the other Two yeares where your peticoner
is now a Servant and hath noe Cure Whereupon your peticon^r: humbly beggs your Worships would//
be pleased to Consider your poore peticoners Condition & to order him Some Satisfaction & to Clear
him from the remainder of his Time Soe that yo^r: peticoner may Looke for a Cure Else where =
And as in Duty bound will pray &^t - - -
Upon heareing the afores^d: peticon it is Ordered by this Court that John Johnson afores^d:
according to his assumption pay for any better Cure then is already don by the s^d: Johnson
