PERJURY.

Goods to the Value, shall be set in the Pillory, and
have both Ears nailed.  Ibid.  §. 4.
    3.  No Person, convict as aforesaid, shall be received
as a Witness, in any Court of Record, till such Judgment
be reversed by Attaint or otherwise; in which

case he shall recover Damages against the Person procuring
such Judgment, by Action on the Case.  Ibid.

PITCH, TAR and PORK.

    1.  Pork, Pitch or Tar, imported into this Province
for Sale, by Non-Residents, either by Land or Water,
shall be liable to a Duty, to be paid by the Importer,
towards the Maintainance of Free Schools, according
to the Petitionary Act of 1696, ch. 17, viz.
            Pork per Barrel,     -    -    -    1 s. 6 d.

            Tar per Barrel,    -    -    -       0     6
to be collected by the several Naval Officers, who shall
render an annual Account thereof to the public Treasurers;
and the Treasurers to Account for the same to 
the General Assembly.  1723, ch. 11, §. 2.
    2.  Any Pork, Pitch or Tar, chargeable with the
said Duties, being landed without Entry with the
proper Officer, upon Oath of the Importer; or before
they Duty shall be paid or secured, and Warrant obtained
from the Officer for Landing the same, shall be forfeited,
or the Value; one Half to the Use of Public
Schools, the other Half to the Informer.  Ibid.  §. 3.

    Good Provision is made to prevent its Growth by
the English Stat. of 11 and 12 of W. III, cap. 4.  Nor
can any Act of Assembly of this Province alter its

PORT DUTIES.

    1.  All Vessels (not properly belonging to this Province)
having a deck flush Fore and Aft, trading
within this Province, shall pay, for Port Duties or Anchorage,
half a Pound of Powder and three Pound
of Shot, or the Value, for every Ton of Burden, to
the Lord Proprietor.  1661, ch. 7, §. 1.
    2.  No Country Bottoms to be charged with the above 
Port Duties or Anchorage, nor more than Five
Shillings for Entering, and five Shillings for Clearing
each Vessel.  1682, ch. 4.

PORTS.

    1.  A Number of Towns, &c. being by this Act intended
to be established, to be Ports and Places where
all Ships and Vessels trading into this Province, should
unlade and put onShore all Negroes, Wares, Goods,
Merchandizes and Commodities whatsoever; the following
Places, and no other, were to be reputed and
appointed Ports, viz.
    Annapolis, in Anne-Arundel County.
    St. Mary's
Town, in Patowmack.
   
At Chester-Town, upon Joce's Land, in Chester River.
    Green-hill
Town, in Somerset County, below Daniel
        Hast
Creek, in Wiccomoco.
   
At the Town of Oxford, in Great-Choptank.
    And at Beckwith's Island, in Patuxent River.

    2.  All the Towns, Rivers, Creeks and Coves in
Talbot County, and the Towns, Rivers, &c. in Great-Choptank,
and Little-Choptank in Dorchester County, and
Kent Island in Queen-Anne's County, were to be deemed

Members of the Port of OXFORD.----All the
Towns, &c. in Cæcil, Kent and Queen-Anne's County
(except Kent Island) to be Members of the Port of
CHESTER-TOWN, in Chester River.----All the
Towns, &c. in Somerset County, and the remaining
Part of Dorchester County, to be Members of the Port
of GREEN-HILL, on Wiccomoco River.----All the
Towns on both Sides of Patuxent River, with the Rivers,
Creeks and Coves thereof, to be Members of
PORT St. GEORGE, at Beckwith's Island, on Patuxent
River.----All the Towns in Baltimore and Anne-Arundel
Counties, with the Rivers, &c. thereto belonging,
(saving on Patuxent River) to be Members
of the Port of Annapolis.----All the Towns in
Patowmack River, with the Rivers, &c. thereto belonging,
to be Members of the Port of St. MARY's, in
Patowmack River.----And all Commanders of Ships,
&c. to Enter with the Naval Officers and Collectors of
the several Districts where they design to ride and unload,
and not with the Officers of another District.

PREROGATIVE COURT.

    1.  ----Shall be held once in Two Months, or oftener,
if necessary; and the Proceedings therein shall
be according to the Laws of Great-Britain, if pleaded
before the Commissary-General, in Cases wherein
the Laws of this Province are silent.  1715, ch. 39,

§. 2.
    2.  ----Shall have like Authority to enforce Obedience
to its Precepts, Orders, Interlocutory Sentences,
and Decrees, as the High Court of Chancery.  Ibid.
§. 40.
    3.  All Persons against whom any Sentence or Decree 
in the Prerogative Court shall be made, shall be
allowed Thirty Days to enter an Appeal therefrom;
and Thirty Days more to prosecute the same before a
Court of Delegates:  Whose Sentence therein shall
be final.  1726, ch. 9, §. 2; and 1715, ch. 39,
§. 27.
    4.  The Time of Appeal and Prosecution thereof
being elapsed, or Compliance with the Commissary's
Sentence, (sent to the Party under Hand and Seal of
the Commissary) being in the mean Time neglected,
nor Security given to perform the same, and Oath being
made out of the Commissary's Office against Body, Goods,
Chattels, or Credits of the Person so refusing.  1715,
ch. 39, §. 40.
