This Act appropriated such Part as remained unapplied
of the 1000 l. appointed by the Act of
1756, ch. 5, for the Payment of 10 l. each for Indian
Scalps and Prisoners, to the Uses of Nº 2,
above mentioned, and repealed that part of the aforesaid Act.
The Agents appointed by that Act, were impowered, on
a written Order from the Governor,
to draw, &c. for the Sums above mentioned (except that of Nº 6,
which was to be paid by the
Commissioners of the Loan-Office to his Excellency) and were allowed a
Commission of Three
per Cent, &c.

An Act impowering the Justices of Somerset County, to levy,
not exceeding Twenty
Thousand Pounds of Tobacco, upon the Taxable Inhabitants
of said County, to
be applied to the b Purpose
therein directed. Lib. H.S. fol. 296.
b Viz.
For the making and compleating a Road and Causeway through Vienna
Marsh in the said
County, from the fast Land down to the Rover Nanticoke, opposite
to Vienna Town in Dorchester
County: The said Causeway to have a sufficient Foundation of
Wood, to be raised to a Height
not to be overflowed by the Water from the said River, and 12 feet Wide
at least at the Top,
well Sanded, with one or more Turning Places thereon. The said Justices
to appoint an Overseer,
with a sufficient Number of the adjacent Inhabitants under his Direction,
to keep the same
in good Repair as other Roads ought to be kept, without any further Tax
upon the County,
under the like Penalties for Neglect or Omission of Duty as other Overseers
and People under
them now are by the Laws in Force relating to Public Roads, &c.
The Act of 1756, ch. 8,
is hereby repealed.

incurred, &c.
