May 2d. 1792

The General Assembly having appropriated a sum of Money to repair the Stadt house in
the City of Annapolis any Person or Persons wishing to contract for the same may see the
designs and particulars of all the work to be done, on the first Monday in June next at the
house of Mr. Joseph Clark in this City, and on the Thursday following the Governor and
Council will receive proposals for executing the Carpenters and plaisterers Work together or
separately. The Contractor or Contractors are to find all Materials, and necessary advances of
Money will be made for the purchase thereof on Security being given.

Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to Capt. Laurence Manning Twelve
pounds, ten shillings to be paid over to Andrew Crummey due him for five Months pay as a
Soldier in the 2d Maryland Regiment due from the 1st August to the 31st December 1780.

[p. 70] In Council May 7. 1792

Ignatius Adams junior of Charles County by his Petition sets forth that he and a certain
William Chandler Brent were some time in 1790 appointed joint Overseers of the Road, that
they as was customary in similar Cases, divided the duty on the said Road, that he the said
Adams did his duty faithfully in mending and keeping his part of the Road in good order, but
Brent neglecting his part, a Presentment was lodged against them both at Charles County Court
March term last, and they were severally fined according to an Act of Assembly the quantity of
two hundred and fifty pounds of Tobacco; he [Ignatius Adams] represents that he has but little
property and cannot without great difficulty discharge the same, and the Chief Justice of the
first district and several Inhabitants of Charles County aforesaid having recommended a remis-
