252 Journal of the State Council, 1784-1789.

His Excellency William Smallwood Esqr. attended,
[p 307] Ordered That the Western Shore Treasurer pay to
James Brice Esquire Thirty one pounds, five shillings for a quarter's
Salary as a Member of the Council due this Day.
The Council adjourned till 6 o'clock P. M.
P. M. The Council met according to adjournment.
Present. His Excellency William Smallwood Esquire.

Agreeably to the request of the late Convention of this State made
by their President, the Board appointed Mr. Archibald Colder to
repair to Congress with the Proceedings of the said Convention
and their Act ratifying the Plan of Government proposed for the
United States, and they were accordingly delivered to him covered
with linen and sealed; together with a Letter to the President of
Congress on the Subject. Mr. Colder is referred to the General As-
sembly for Compensation for this Service.

The Council adjourned 'till Saturday next.

Saturday 3d. May 1788

Ordered that the Western Shore Treasurer pay to Joseph Clarke
Eight pounds, ten shillings currency to enable him to settle John
Green's Account against the State, and accounted for.

His Excellency William Smallwood Esquire attended.

Commission issued to Ephraim Howard appointed One of the
Coroners of Frederick County.

Ordered That the Western Shore Treasurer pay to Thomas John-
son junr. Fifty pounds for one quarter's Salary as Clerk of the Coun-
cil due the 1st. Instant,
