Wednesday 11th. July 1787

The Council met.

In Council July 11, 1787

Charles Bennett of Worcester County having represented to the
Board that he was at a Court held for said County in June 1786 upon
[p 249] information for retailing Liquors without licence, fined
the sum of six pounds which sum together with the Costs and
charges, he is unable to Discharge, and that he is now in confinement
in the Common Gaol for the same and prays a remission of the whole.
The Board in consideration of the said Charles Bennetts indigent
circumstances, his having a Wife and five small Children and his
obligation to pay the Costs on the said information backed with a
recommendation of eight of the Justices of the said County then in
Court sitting, do direct that the said Fine of six pounds be remitted,
which is hereby done accordingly.
