      Know all men by these presents that I Marmaduke Semmes of tht
     County of St Maries Inholder for divers good Causes & Considera-
     tions hereunto moveing have made & Constituted & ordaind & ap-
     pointed & doe by these presents make & Constitute & order & appointe
     my truely & well beloved freind Thomas Witter of Charles County
     planter my true & lawfull Atturney for mee & in my name to aske,
     demand, sue for, recover & receive all & every such debts & Ingage-
     ments whatsoever is are or may appeare to be due & made appeare
     properly belonging unto Marmaduke Semmes aforesd upon any ac-
     count from any person or persons now belonging, giveing & graunting
     by these presents full power & Authority to my Atturney to act in
     the premises, & the said debts & dues to be demanded & received, &
     upon refusall & non performance of payment from any person or
     persons from whom it shall appeare to be due the said person or
     persons to arrest, imprison & out of prison to deliver & pleade &
     prosecution of the Law to sustaine & mainteine against them or any
     of them, allsoe acquittances or any lawfull discharge for the said
     Marmaduke Semmes, & in his name to make & appoint another
     Atturney or Atturneyes under him & at his pleasure to revocke,
     And all things whatsoever in the law or otherwise needfull to be
     done the same to doe & per forme as fully & effectually to all intents
     purposes ratifleing & Confirmeing by these presents what the above
     named Thomas Witter my Atturney shall doe in the premises to &
     for the use & behoofe of the said Marmaduke Semmes In Wittnesse
     whereof I have putt my hand & seale this ninth day of Novemb
