June 30

[John Murdock, Montgomery County, to His Excy The Governeur
and The Honble The Council]

The Bearer Lieutt Nicholls of Captain NichollSts Company of
select Militia, waits on you on Purpose to know whether all the
select Militia now stationed at George Town, may not be discharged
in Order to secure their Harvests, until further Orders.
I understand there are many of them who will suffer greatly by
their continuing on Duty; and as it doth not at present appear that
there is much Danger from the Enemy, A Respite may be very ad-
vantageous, not only to them, but probably to the State.
