transmit to us, & a Third they shall keep by them; You shall take
care th^t these Surveys be compleated within twelve months.
2 You shall Direct the Several Surveyors constantly to give Notice
to our Agent for the time being, when persons shall seat themselves
on any of our Manners, without the Lett or Licence of our Chan-
cellor & Agent for the time being.

An Instruction to the Commissary General
You are to Transmit Yearly to the Keeper of the Rent-Rolls, an
Abstract of all Lands left by Wills Return'd into your Office, the
names of the Devisor & Devisee, the Name of the Tract, the Quan-
tity of Acres, & the County the Land lyeth in.
Given under our hand & Seal at Annapolis June the 18^th 1733 &
in the 19^th year of our Dominion.

1. In all things relative to your Office you shall act by and with
the Advice and Consent of the Chancellor for the time Being who
is directed to be Assistant to you and to sign with you Jointly all
Papers necessary.
2 You shall be very exact in Methodising your Accounts and
making these under your directions Account with you half yearly.
3^dly You shall Endeavour with the Chancellour to lett any of my
manners and appoint such Officers in them upon such Terms as you

4^thly You shall Cause all the Rents of my Leases for Lands
Ferrys &c. to be paid you in Sterling.
5^thly Whereas the Justices of Several County Courts have taken
upon them to agree for certain Rates with persons for keeping
Ferrys over several of the Rivers within my Province for the In-
habitants of their Several Counties and to Assess those Rates upon
the Inhabitants without any Law to Warrant such Assessment
which practice is not only an Invasion of our Right, But an Injury
to the People who are assessed Contrary to Law, you are therefore
hereby directed to take proper measures to put a Stop to such illegall
practices, And to take all necessary Care that neither Our Right
or property be Invaded or the people imposed on in that particular,
6thly When you Resign your Office which is at your own Request
