ces And at your request it was left to the Consideration of
this Session.
I have again received Instructions to the like purpose and
shall comunicate them to you and hope they will meet with no
difficulty Considering the Just Claim of my Lord Propry and
the Urgent necessity of a regulation in the Ordinaries.
Gent. As my Lords Propry & Guilford have most Oblig-
ingly complyed with whatever you thought proper to request
of their Ldships And as their Lordships have given you all
Assurances of maintaining your Laws And preserving to you
your rights & Priviledges It will lye upon you to make such
gratefull returns as may give his Lordship the Strongest proof
of your dutiful Affections which in Effect is all that is Ex-
pected from you. A remarkable Instance what felicity you
do & may Enjoy under the noble family of Baltemore
Jo Hart.

His Excellency the Govr delivers to Mr Speaker the follow-
ing Answer from the Lords Propry & Guilford to the Address
of the upper & Lower houses of Assembly in July 1716 Viz.

The Answer of the Right honble Francis Lord Guilford
Guardian to the right Honbie Charles Lord Baltemore Abso-
lute Lord & Propry of the Provinces of Maryland & Avalon
for and on his behalf To the Address of the uper & lower
houses of Assembly of the Province of Maryland. Gent. I
thank you on behalf of my Lord Propry for your Dutiful

Address and in a most particular manner comend the great
Zeale you have shewn for the Kings Honour against the dare-
ing Attempts of Papists you may depend upon it that as my
Lord Proprietor and I have nothing more at heart than the
maintaining the True Orthodox Religion & Principles of the
Church of England & protecting you in all your Civil rights
& Liberties so we hope we shall be able to do both under the
administration of our present Leivtt Governour Capt Hart.
I do assure you nothing can be more welcome to my Lord
Propry and me than the advice of our Assembly, it being so
Vital a part of the Constitution and the best Counsell of the
Province And we hope that as often as you give it us you will
understand the Value of your rights & privileges so well as to
give it free & without Influence.
Gent. You may depend upon it no pson shall be advanced
to any preferrmt for which he shall not be Qualifyed by Law.

His Excellency Communicates to this house the fourth &
fifth Articles of their Lordships Instructions Viz.
