566 Assembly Proceedings, April 5-22, 1720.

Ordered that Coll: Mackall and Mr Tyler go to the Upper
House to Acquaint His Excellency that a Sufficient number of
Members are met to make an House.
They Return and Say they Delivered their Message.
Collo Holland from the upper House acquaints Mr Speaker
that it being too Late for this House to Attend His Excellency,
they may proceed on Such Business as Lyes before them

The House Adjourns till to Morrow Morning Eight of
Clock.

Wednesday April 6th 1720
The House met According to adjournment
Present as Yesterday.
Ordered that the Secretary prepare writs of Election.
To the Sherife of St Marys County for the Electing a
Delegate to Serve in the Room of Collo Henry Peregrine
Jowles deceased.
To the Mayor Recorder and Aldermen of the City of An-
napolis for the Electing two Members In Stead of Thomas
Bordley and John Beale Esqrs who Since Last Assembly are
removed, the former to be a member of the Councill, the latter
to be Clerk to the Councill.
To the Sherife of Charles County for the Electing a Dele-
gate in the Stead of John Parry Deceased
To the Sherife of Cecill County for the Electing a Delegate
in the Stead of Capt James ffrisby Deced.
To the Sherife of Baltemore County for the Electing a
Delegate in the Stead of Coll: James Phillips Deceased.

To the Sherife of Talbot County for the Electing a Dele-
gate in the Stead of Major Emerson who is Dead Since he
came to this Sessions.
Coll. Young from the Upper house Acquaints Mr Speaker
that his Excellency Requires him and the whole House to
attend him Immediately in the Councill Chamber.
Thereupon Mr Speaker with the whole House went to the
upper house, where His Excellency was pleased to make the
following Speech Viz:

Gentlemen of the Upper and Lower Houses of Assembly.
By a Speciall Instruction from the Right Honourable The
Lords Guilford and Proprietor dated in London the 23d
March 1718 the Assembly of this Province Stands Prorogued
to this present Month of April And tho' I am not Honoured
with their Lordships' reasons for this unusuall method of
