Genll Assembly after the raising and Disbursing the said Tobo
as aforesaid.
And be itt further Enacted by the Authority afd that all
Souldiers hereafter to be Imployed in Any Publick Service
within this Province be paid in the respective Countys where
the said Souldiers live.
And be itt further Enacted that Every Capt Lieutent Cor-
nett or Ensigne refusing or Neglecting to Appear att the time
and place Appointed for training or mustering shall be fined
as afd for Every time he or they shall refuse or Neglect to
Appeare the Sume of Two hundred pounds of Tobo to be
Applyed to the Use of the troop or Company where the per-
son soe fined doth belong as afd to be heard Adjudged De-
termined and Levyed by way of Execution as afd.
An Account of all which fines the sevll and respective Ma-
jors of the Sevll and respective Counties are hereby Oblidg'd
to render to the Governr and Councill Yearly on pain of ffor-
feiting the sume of five hundred pounds of Tobo to be Applyed

to the Uses afd And to be heard Adjudged Determined and
levyed by the Collonell or Lieutenant Collonell byway of Exe-
cution as afd
This Act to Endure for three years And to the end of the
next Sessions of Assembly after the end of the said three years,

An Act Relating to Servts and Slaves.

Whereas there have been Sevll Acts provided against Ser-
vants runaways which have hereto proved Ineffectuall in
regard they doe not Sufficiently provide Encouragemt for such
person or persons Inhabitants of this province as should seize
such Runaways or Servants by this Act Deemed Runaways
therefore for the better Discovery Seizing And Apprehending
of such Runaways —
Be itt Enacted by the Kings most Excellent Majesty by and
with the Advice and Consent of his Majestys Governt Coun-
cill and Assembly of this Province and the Authority of the
same that from and after the Publication hereof no Servant
or Servants whatsoever within this Province whether by In-
denture or According to the Custome of the Country or hired
for wages shall travell by Land or by Water ten Miles from
the house of his her or their Master Mistress or Dame without
a note Under their hands or Under the hand of his or their

Overseer if any be Under the penalty of being taken for a
runaway And to Suffer such Penalties as are hereafter pro-
vided Against Runaways.
