Came Panquash & Annotoughk on behalf of Ashquash
Emperour of the Nanticoke Indians

Winnoughquarquo King of the Babcos & Ahatchwoops
Robin Indian Chief of the Indian River Indians on behalf of
his Queen Wyranfconmickonous Queen of the said Indians
and desired to Enter into Articles of Alliance with her most
Sacred Ma^ty the Queen of Great Britain France and Ireland
and the said Articles being Mutually Concluded on as fol-
loweth were interchangeably Signed & Sealed Viz.

Articles of Peace and Amity concluded and agreed upon
the igth day of May 1705 in the fourth Year of the Reign of
our Sovereign Lady Anne by the Grace of God of England
Scotland France and Ireland Queen Defender of the Faith
&c By & Between his Ex^ncy John Seymour Esq^r Cap^t Gen-
erall & Governour in Chief in and over this her Ma^tys Province
of Maryland the Lands Islands and Territorys thereto belong-
ing &c. for and on the behalf of her said Ma^tys Queen of
England all her Subjects as well in this as all other her
Ma^tys Provinces Collonys and Territorys in America, & Pan-
quash & Annoughtoughk Great men particularly appointed
for and on behalfe of Asquash Emperour of the Nanticoke
Indians & his Indians as followeth.

Imprimis. The said Panquash and Annoughtoughk on
behalf of the said Ashquash do desire he may be Received &
Acknowledged as Emperour of the Nanticoke Indians to
which his Ex^ncy the Governour and Councill is pleased to
agree and Accordingly Condescends to treat with the said
Panquash aud Annoughtougk as his Commisioners.

2. It is further agreed upon that from this day forward
there be An Inviolable Peace & Amity between her most
Sacred Ma^tys Queen Ann and the said Ashquash Emperour
of the Nanticoke Indians upon these Articles hereafter men-
con'd to Endure to the World's End and that all former Acts
