             538 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1731.

            

             Lib. M. His Excellency produces to this Board His Lordships the

             Lord Proprietary's Instructions, which are as follow Viz.

                   Charles Absolute Lord and Proprietary of the Provinces of

                 Maryland and Avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c Orders

                 and Instructions, Powers and Authorities to be Observed and

                 pursued by Our Dearly beloved Brother, the Honourable

              p. 40    Benedict Leonard Calvert Esqr Our Lieutenant Governor of

                 Our Province of Maryland

            

                 C Baltemore

                   You will herewith receive my Dissents to the following

                 Acts of Assembly to be published and Entered on Record

                 according to your forms Viz.

                   Whereas at a Session of Assembly begun and held in Our

                 Province of Maryland the twenty first Day of May, and End

                 ing the sixteenth Day of June in the sixteenth year of Our

                 Dominion over the said Province Annoq Domini 1730, These

                 Acts were passed Viz.

            

                   An Act for ascertaining the form of the Oath of Judge or

                 Justice; Also an Act to ascertain the fees of Practitioners of

                 the Law within this Province, and to prevent Extortions

                 Frauds and Abuses therein

                   We on due Consideration had and taken of the sd. Acts,

                 have thought fit to dissent unto them; and do hereby declare

                 the aforesaid Acts to be null, void and of no Effect

                   Given under Our hand and Seal at London this twenty

                 ninth Day of January in the seventeenth year of Our Domi

                 nion Annoq Domini 1731             C B

            

                   Additional Orders and Instructions Powers and Authorities

                 to be Observed and pursued by Our Beloved Brother Bene

                 dict Leonard Calvert Our Lieutenant Governor of Our Prov

                 ince of Maryland

            

            

                 C Baltemore

                  “You will herewith receive my Answer to the Address

                 of Our Assembly which you are to deliver to them as my

                 Words at their next Meeting

                   You shall suffer no Law to pass that introduces the Statutes

                 of England in the Gross

                   And you are not to suffer any Law to pass touching the

                 Practitioners of the Law that is not consonant with some Law

                 of England

                   You are likewise to publish and enter all these Instructions

                 on Record according to your forms
