debates had thereupon His Exncy is pleased to aske the Gentln
of the Councill whether they do not thinke it Advisable that
he should imediately issue a Proclamation Signifying the Re-
peale of the Said Laws.
To which they severally agree Answer & Advise his Excelncy
to deferr the issuing of such Proclamation for the following
Reasons vizt
First. In reguard there is not a full Councill at this time
there being only three present at the Board and the rest living
so remote that they cannot well be called together in any short
tyme.
2dly That this being a Matter of great & weighty moment
which may have Strange Influences on the Courts of Law &
Justice within this Province in their Judgemt and Proceedings
It would be for his Matys Service and the Benefitt of this Pro-
vince to deferr the publishing such Proclamation untill The
meeting of the Genll Assembly

Original
Journal.
p. 4

3dly That this being so publick a Concerne wherein His
most Sacred Maty and his good Subjects are nearly interested
It is absolutely necessary that the Genll Assembly should be Con-
sulted therein, which at present is much facilitated by reason
the meeting of the said Assembly is so nigh at hand viz the
26th Instant to which Day they Stand prorogued.
His Exncy is pleased further to Aske the Advice of the
Gentn present Whether in reguard he has received no late
Comands from his most Sacred Maty or from the Right honble
the Lords of the Councill for Trade and Foraigne Plantations,
The Meeting of the Assembly should not be further deferred
and put off in Expectation of some of his Matys Royall
Comands which may be sent him or other Directions from
their Lordps of the Councill of Trade and Plantations.
