D. desire you will please to make inquiry after the sd Vessell and if She Shall import any European Goods contrary to Law or shall be unduly Navigated That you Cause Seizure and prosecution to bc made boLh of the sd Vessell & loading in noe Case permitting her to Load any of Enumerated Com modities with you before the Master hath given Bond with a Responsible Security to to Carry the Same to England Wales or Berwick there to Land and put the Same on Shore (the Danger of the Seas only Excepted) in pursuance of the Act of Navigation. for letting lecting the Duty of a Penny p pound on Tobacco in fall the their Respective Districts Twenty p Cent only might Compt and Surveyrs be allowed as Sufficient for them there being other place. wise An Encouragemt for their diligence in putting in Execution the Acts of Trade and Navigation by the third part of the forfeitures therein provided for them, And the Col lectors in Virga being Content with this allowance of Twenty p Cent. We desire you will please to make the like Agreemt and Settlement with our Collectors in Maryland for the Good and bennifitt of the sd Colledge And whereas the Office of Compt and Surveyor of the penny p per pound in Maryland is thought needless Since the Governors of the Colledge are will ing of themselves to Audit the Accots of the Said Collectors We Agree That the Same be let fall like as hath been done in Virga and the proffits of the Office Saved to the Colledge desireing you to Signifye the Same to the prsent Compt & Surveyr with the Offer of the next Sutable Collectors place that shall become Voy'd in Maryland. Upon Consideration of the Reasons Offered to Us against Sending this Duty for England We thought it needless That Such part thereof as Should be Actually paid down in Money should be remitted hither And did therefore Agree That it should be kept in Virginia and Applyed to the Uses of the Colledge We likewise Agree, That the Same Method be Observed in Maryland & if there Can be Good assureance had that the Tobacco taken in lieu of this Duty of one penny
