Assembly Proceedings, Oct. 3-19, 1695. 223

Virginia being 133lb 08s 07d the house do hereby Resolve he
shall be gratefully refunded the same out of the first money
accruing to this Province out of the Publick Revenue of the
same.
Ordered th' the Committee of Laws prepare a small bill in
Complyance of their Ma's desire for the assistance of New
York.
Resolved th' the Additionall Duty of 3d p hhd: shall be no
longer continued then till the Expiration of the present Act
therefore.

Read part of a Letter produced by his Ex"cy from the honrble
John Povey Esqr: one of the Clerks of his mats most honrble
Councill Dated the 8 day of June past; Ordered that the
same be sent down to the house of Burgesses for their
perusall
Produced at the board and Read a Paper of Severall pro-
posalls and quseries offered by his Exncy unto the honrble his
mats Councill as follg Vizt

Journal.

(1) That the Law for appeals &ca be inspected and
explain'd what Sums Writts of Error maybe brought for before
the Governt and Councill and that it be provided therein that
the King be not tyed up in any Sume from Appealing: and that
in the sd Act it be also provided in Case the Governr should
be sick or absent or a party Concern'd in any Appeal or Writt
of Error before his Exncy and Councill depending or hereafter
to be brought that then the same be heard and tryed before
the Cheif Councillo' present and ffour more of the Councill.
(2) That the Law be explain'd about skins and ffurrs
whether skins brought out of Pensilvania and Shipt here
ought not to pay.
(3) That an Imposition be laid upon all Goods brought
into this Province and sent for Pensilvania; at least Ten p
Cent, or that shall be brought from Virginia going through
this Countrey for Pensilvania.
(4) That what money is already Reed: by the Duty upon
ffurrs &ca be laid out towards the building a Small Schoole
house and maintaining a Schoole Master.
(5) That the Law agt exporting raw hides, Deer and Elke
Skins be repealed being found prejudiciall, and that a small
imposition be laid thereon to be appropriated to the Same
vse as the imposition upon ffurrs.
(6) To know whats to be done with the money raised by
the exportacon of ffurrs, skins, porke, and beefe &ca
(7) That a Law be made to keep a Distinct Dockett for
the Severall Counties in the provinciall Court and for the
apportioning the severall causes to be tryed upon a certain
day.
