586 Records of Maryland Troops in the Continental Service RESOLVES OF CONTINENTAL CONGRESS 21 OCTOBER, 1780 "Resolved, ............... That there be 2 partizan corps, consisting of troops of mounted and of dismounted dragoons, of 50 each, one of which corps to be commanded by col. Armand, and the other by major Lee, and officered by appointment of the commander in chief, with the approbation of Congress: and that the commander in chief be authorized to direct a mode for completing, recruiting and supplying the said corps." RESOLVES OF CONTINENTAL CONGRESS 6 NOVEMBER, 1780. "Resolved, That the partizan corps commanded by major Lee in future have two field officers, a lieutenant-colonel and a major. Resolved, That major Lee be, and hereby is, promoted to the rank of lieutenant-colonel of cavalry in the army of the United States, retain ing the command of his present corps."
