disadvantage to our Self, being some Miles to the Southward
of the Northerly latitude of ffourtieth Degree. Wee Doe
therefore hereby require you with all convenient speed to take
with you such and soe many persons to accompany and
attend you, as you shall think convenient, and to Repare (as
an Agent to the said Governor of Pen-Sylvania, and of him to
demand in our name, and to our use the delivery of all the
Land upon the West side of Delaware River and Bay, and the
Seaboard side to the Southward of the ffourtieth Degree of
Northerly Latitude, and more pticularly all that part thereof
which lyeth to the Southward of the markt lyne aforesaid;
All the sd Land being part of our Province of Maryland, and
conteined within the bounds thereof, as appeares by our
Charter, and wrongfully detained from us by William Penn
Esqr and they that hold the said Lands under him, which
demand you are to make both by writeing and word of mouth
ffor all which this shall be your Comission and warrant. Given
under our hand & lesser Seale at Armes this Nineteenth of
March 1683:

James Ringold petition
The humble petition of James Ringold of Kent County In
most humble manner Sheweth
That sometime in October last past Mrs Anne Tovey sent to
yor Petr requesting him to come to Samuel Tovey her hus-
band, for she thought he would not live long, for he was very
weake, at which request your petr went, and when your petr
came there she desired him to speake to Mr Tovey to proove
his Accots and settle his business at which time his Spiritts
being very low that your petr saw it not convenient, but
speedily after he begann to be chearely. and spoke readily to
your petr as touching his health, and said he did not question
but to recover, At which time your petr mooved him, as his
said wife had requested your petr, but he deferred it and dis-
covered not his mind at all; but one night after being still
weaker and weaker your petr with other good people watched
with him all night, helping him up, and remooveing him from
