wages, Sr this and much more to tedious to write, which wee
cann make appeare had wee the Honr to see you, wee hope
will take away that groundless imputacon, that wee have to
hastily cautioned our Country against the incursions of their
Enemys. Notwithstanding any suggestion to the Contrary
by Gentlemen that stand in need of them to Excuse their
neglect in not psueing yor Orders timely to prvent the Indians
goeing out into our Country which wee found soe wholly
omitted that two of the Cheife Sachems of the Oniad and
Onnondagoes forts one iust gon, the other heare when wee
arrived, had noe knowledge or Caution given them of yor com-
mand as wee had from Mr Levistones own mouth, Sr out of that
respect and honr wee beare to yor pson and place we are not
willing to returne vpon those severall parts of yor Letter wch
may iustly rescent (Rather Expecting yor promised assistance,
then to be told we had mistaken the business wee carne about)
yett give us leave (because the prsent occasion Require it)
To assure you that our propositions both to yor Selte and Com-
issarys here are pursueant to or Commission and instructions

from our Master in whose name wee expected to be understood,
wee prsented them, and reckon ourselves very unhappy that
wee cannot returne him a more freindly and neighbourly
answere then this last letter, Sr wee are very sorry that any
Expressions in our letter should merritt the name of threat-
ning (or soe unsavory returne) yett wee must further assure
you that it is pursueant to or instruccons to declare to you that
these Northerne Indians in Amity with you have killed and
robbed his Majestys Subjects both in Virginia and Maryland
(confest by themselves in the Court house at Albany) and
therevpon in our Masters name desire that you please to pro-
hibite the Inhabitants of this Towne from furnishing them the
(Kings Enemys) with armes and amunicon untill they shall
give such satisfaccon, as may in reason and honr incline us to
Confirme the peace formerly made with them, and Sr from or
Master wee acquaint you that a non Compliance herein from
this Government (as cannot be reasonably be thought other-
wise) wilbe complained of to his Royall highness, the King and
Councill, and now Sr wee are in hopes that discharging our-
selves faithfully in the business wee are Comanded about, will
give noe further personall offence, but instead thereof incline
you to a Serious consideracon of the prsent danger of his
Majestys Subjects in the parts wee come from, and that the
tyes and obligacons not only of a Christian but a Subject of
England lyes vpon you to prvent soe farr forth as lies in yor
power reasonably to be done, and Sr when you consider that
wee are here confined to a towne where wee find our Enemys
plentifully fitting themselves, with all warrlike furniture to goe
